Tuesday September 12th, 2017 the entry of the Offshore Sailing Worlds 2018 opened. In the pre registration their were already a lot of enthusiastic international top sailing teams. The animo has never been so big for a top sailing championship, within two weeks the entry is half full. It promises to be a beautiful international field where 15 countries have already committed themselves.
Tuesday, September 19th 2017 – The World Championships will be held from 12 to 20 July 2018. It’s the first ever combined ORC and IRC championship, an innovative solution to unite the world’s two largest offshore racing fleets. Be part of this unique fleet and register now for this historic event.
In 2018 the city of The Hague Beach will be all about sailing and a sailing showcase to the world. Over the years, Dutch ORC teams have enjoyed hospitality of previous Worlds organizing countries. Being the 3rd largest ORC country, the Dutch owe it to the community and fellow racers from all over the world to invite them to the low lands to experience the hospitality and the treasure called ‘North Sea’.
At the World Sailing Conference in Barcelona, The Hague is chosen as the city for the Offshore Sailing Worlds 2018. This means we will see worlds best 1300 sailors racing each other in front of the coastline of Scheveningen. The council of The Hague is really happy the Worlds are appointed to them.
Bouwe Bekking is the ambassador of the Offshore Sailing Worlds 2018 in The Hague. The organizing team met up with Bekking at the ORC Worlds 2016 in Copenhagen. With The Hague close to his heart and a big passion for offshore sailing, he didn’t hesitated to become the ambassador of the World Championship in 2018.
